1. Usernames will be created with only small letters, capital letters, symbols and numbers.
2. “Admin” and certain other usernames will not be acceptable. Questions? Email customerservice@hosttheusa.com for further info.
3. Email addresses may not be used as usernames for the purpose of logging into your WordPress website.
4. All Dashboard login passwords on a HostTheUSA.com server will consist of at least 9 characters (and preferably more).
5. We recommend using at least one each: small letter, capital letter, and number.
6. Your first and/or last name and spaces, are not allowed in any password.
7. The main idea here is to use a password that is not easily guessed.
8. Here is an example of a good password:  Mydaughterisaterrificstudent!  It’s all about not using names included your dogs’ names, but most important is the length of the password.  So as not to use the same password every time, add a dash (-) then first 2 or 3 letters of the website to the end of your password sentence or phrase.
9. We recommend LastPass.com in order to use complex passwords and to save all of your passwords.  It is extremely easy to install, to learn how to use it, and to use it!
HostTheUSA’s COO uses LastPass and loves it!
10. If HostTheUSA finds that a website has a password that violates its password policy, it may be grounds for sanctions from a first time warning up to permanent removal of the website from HostTheUSA servers.

Security of Your Website(s)

1. Please be sure to follow the password guidelines as detailed immediately below.  Rule of Thumb:  “If one website a server is hacked, basically all websites on that server are now compromised.”

It’s been  a number of years since one of our websites was hacked. It was caused by a weak password that violated our policy on passwords.  A weak password is considered by HostTheUSA admins and techs to be a very serious offense in that it could possibly harm every other website on the server.  If HostTheUSA finds that a website has a password that violates its password policy, it may be grounds for sanctions from a first time warning up to permanent removal of the website from HostTheUSA servers.  For further information on what makes a good website, see “Selected Major Points Detailed In The Pages Below,” item #10.  If you’re still not sure, please email customerservice@hosttheusa.com and inquire.

2. We make backups of all websites on our servers (1) at the time the website is up and working and (2) when requested by a website owner as part of “Fully Managed Hosting.”  HostTheUSA keeps an All-in-One WP Migration backup copy of your website in our offline files, but we will send a copy to you by email on request.

3. HostTheUSA highly recommends that all website owners make their own restorable backup of All-in-One WP Migration from time-to-time.  Owners should also make backups of their websites everytime they updated their website’s content.
